The ASX listed oil and gas company – Lion Energy – asked us Ayo Responsive peeps if we could help them with a small but urgent need – draw some maps for them. I smiled and thought, YES! Time to dust off my copy of Adobe Illustrator. I honestly do not know why I get so excited about creating vector based images, I just do and any opportunity to do so, even in the form of a map or seven is fine and dandy with me.

“It’s the seemingly mundane tasks that turn out to be surprisingly interesting and fun!” Mark Andrews – Ayo Responsive.

Working with the Lion Energy team proved to be a rather enlightening experience, not spiritually of course but I will be looking at oil and gas with a set of fresh eyes. Very clever folks. They made Brains from Thunderbirds look like a . . . what’s the word ? . . Marionette!

One of the most enriching aspects of my job is learning about a client’s business. Most times it’s a necessity but sometimes one picks up and digests a useful nugget of information in passing or by accident. Of course I remain a novice compared to the boffins at Lion Energy but after completing several map illustrations, I can now confidently explain the definition of ‘Tight Gas’ without sniggering.

Never turn away the little jobs. They more often than not lead to bigger deals.

Mark Andrews
